HGTV's Carter Oosterhouse teams up with Lake Michigan Credit Union on home makeover giveaway

GRAND RAPIDS, MI ? HGTV host Carter Oosterhouse is teaming up with Lake Michigan Credit Union (LMCU) for a marketing campaign that will include a $25,000 home makeover giveaway.

Oosterhouse, a Traverse City native and an LMCU member, is nationally recognized for hosting several cable television shows about home renovation, design and community outreach. He is the host of a new HGTV show called ?Million Dollar Rooms.?

?Carter and LMCU is a very natural match. He?s all about improving people?s lives by building lasting value with the right tools and innovative techniques,? said Don Bratt, LMCU?s vice president of marketing.

?That philosophy meshes nicely with our focus on delivering value through superior products and services,? said Bratt. ?We have complimentary goals, and this is a natural partnership.?

LMCU?s campaign with Oosterhouse launches this month with a $25,000 Home Makeover Giveaway.

?Anyone can enter, members and non-members alike,? Bratt said, in a news release announcing the partnership.

?The sweepstakes will run until April 30 with a single drawing to be held May 17. The winner will not only get a $25,000 cash prize, but also advice from Carter about design ideas and eco-friendly building tips.?

The contest can be entered online at lmcu.org, or personally at any LMCU branch location. Entrants can also increase their odds when friends enter the giveaway through a Facebook link.

LMCU?s campaign will stretch across multiple media, including television, radio, print, outdoor, point of sale, Internet, social networks and member communications, Bratt said.

Oosterhouse?s career as a carpenter began at the age of 12, when he began as an apprentice to his neighbor in Traverse City. He is a graduate of Central Michigan University and is married to actress Amy Smart.

In addition to his own production company with shows on HGTV, Oosterhouse runs a nonprofit that builds and rehabs playgrounds, makes furniture from fallen Northern Michigan trees, and recently released a new book, ?Carter's Way: A No-Nonsense Method for Designing Your Own Super Stylish Home.?

For his latest endeavor, Oosterhouse and his brother are opening a winery near Traverse City on Old Mission Peninsula. They have about 20 acres planted and just had their first yield of wine grapes.

?Oosterhouse?s Michigan roots, visibility, personal charm and ability to communicate on an individual level were keys in his selection as spokesperson,? Bratt said. ?This new marketing campaign and partnership seeks to solidify our branding image in ways our members can relate to.?
