PEORIA,IL--Peoria area Congresswoman Cheri Bustos is among 20 lawmakers who tried unsuccessfully to convince House Speaker John Boehner to remain in session until a budget deal is reached. Bustos was in Peoria Monday for two events. She was the speaker at Bradley University's "Women in Leadership " luncheon. The freshman Congresswoman says across the board cuts would be devastating to families and agencies across the country.
"Cuts like to head start, I think that's unconsciencable to look at cutting any place in education at a time that that's where we should be investing in. I have a hard time with the way this whole thing has been approached," she said.
Congresswoman Bustos is also the speaker this evening at the Peoria County Democrats' Presidents Day Dinner at the Itoo Hall.
